Fruit of the Flowering Crab

Fruit of the Flowering Crab_edited-1

We planted this Flowering Crab in 2008.  This is the first year the fruit has reached the size of the fruit you see in this image – slightly smaller than a small marble – The fruit will provide food for local bird populations.  We didn’t think it would ever produce any fruit larger than a small beebee, and now we don’t need to strain our eyes to see the fruit.

Guess who got his yearly shots yesterday.  He was not a happy camper.  At least he didn’t attack anyone at the Vet’s office.  He threw a fit but, all in all, behaved fairly well … until the carrier was being zipped closed.  “Paws with claws,” came shooting through where the zipper closes … fortunately no one was scratched. He rode home quietly and was fine all day.  At least we get to wait a whole year before he (we) go througn it again.

Post Line

This post line runs along the back end of the Park Road at Jubilee College State Park in Central Illinois.
It starts on the upper left and  follows the road in a circular pattern to where this image was shot.  The posts stop at the top of this incline.  Not an image of note but a good spot for a depth of field review.
