Male, American Gold Finch, picking seeds from a Cone Plant

Male Gold Finch picking seeds from a Cone Plant_edited-1_wm

This handsome little fella was very busy a few mornings ago. He was moving from plant to plant and I was lucky to catch him before he moved again.  Actually, it seems a bit early for Finches to be feeding on Cone Plants.  We generally don’t see them until the fall.  But, this plant got his attention.

Bumlebee on a Cone Plant

This young bumblebee was busy gathering nectar a few days ago.  I’ve found, over the years, if you don’t disturb them while they gather, bumblebees just go about their business allowing you to get quite close – quietly.

Rainbows after the Storm

Rainbow an a half_edited-1_wm

These rainbows, one barely visible,  appeared after the clouds two posts below, as sunlight hit our garage.  From my angle the garage door appears as crazy as the day.

This image was shot on July 11, 2017.  The day, date and time menus, on my point and shoot camera, goofed up – the details indicating the image was taken the end of December 1979.

Young Praying Mantis on the Hunt

This youngster was hunting when I disturbed his concentration.  As you can see he’s looking at me.  I was so attracted to him I did not see the spider below.  Thankfully, the camera picked it up.  I did not stick around to see what happened next.
