Doe stepping out for a drink

Doe Drinking from Bird Bath_edited-1_wm

I took this image yesterday at about 7:30 PM.  She was behind a business located next to Forest Park Nature Center in Peoria Heights.   I used my camera, an Alcatel Pop Astro.  She sure was a pretty little gal and had just been drinking from the bird bath directly in front of her.

The Last Train through Town

I shot this image, the last train through Peoria Heights, Illinois, on May 9th, 2009.  I posted it back then but it was lost when I lost my hard drive – fortunately, not all the images.  My IT Guru recovered many of them for me.

The train engineer, shown in the image, told me, “this is it, the last diesel or any other train that’ll ever be seen on this track. He was correct.  The Peoria Park District purchased the right of way, or made some agreement with the railroad, however that’s done, and the rest is history.  As most of you know, the area is now a bicycle/walking track.  Right off the back of our property.

A Rock for the Ages

tmp_20170622132010_wm

My wife and daughter – or grand-daughters – found this great piece of rock along the bicycle/walking path behind our home.  I don’t know if it’s petrified or not.  It certainly is remarkable.  We’ve had it a few years now.  It sits above our microwave on a bread/wine rack. Maybe one of you know what it is?

Peacock Temperature Gauge in our Flower Garden

Peacock Temperature Gauge_edited-1_wm

This Peacock Temperature Gauge was given to us by one of our daughter’s – Adrienne.  It made for a nice ornamental addition to the natural surrounding flowers and plants.

Log Cabin Bird House

IMG_1036

One of our daughters gave me this Log Cabin Bird House.  It even has a latchable back door for cleaning.  I haven’t hung it this year due to over abundant Wasp and Hornet populations.  I’m sure one or the other would make a home inside. NEXT YEAR!
