A heads up on, “Finches.”

I noticed earlier today, both male and female Finches are beginning to feed on Cone Plant seeds. “They love the Seeds.”   So, if you live in the Midwest, and love to shoot Finches, get your camera ready.  They really are a great subject and usually spend time on the plants. They are very cautious, however, so the best way to capture them is to be sitting somewhat near the plants  –  not to close –  so they’ll get use to your presence and start feeding.  I’ve got a 75-300 zoom that works well in these situations. I also have a Point and Shoot that takes excellent images.  Whatever you’ve got that works well for you will do the job.

Crimson Colored Grass

Crimson Colored Grass_edited-1

I wish this image had turned out sharper.  At leasr the camera picked up the Crimson but not the way I would have liked.  I’ve seen the tops of the grass this color in the past but not for a good many years.  The Crimson ocolored  area of the lawn gets more sun during the day.
