Wild Plants along our Bicycle/Walking Path

tmp_20170804053752_wm

These plants take root wherever there’s room.  They’re not particularly nature’s beauties, but they fill a void and are interesting to photograph. Many are beginning the process of changing to beautiful reds, oranges and crimsons.  I shot this image October 5th, 2016.

The Last Train through Town

I shot this image, the last train through Peoria Heights, Illinois, on May 9th, 2009.  I posted it back then but it was lost when I lost my hard drive – fortunately, not all the images.  My IT Guru recovered many of them for me.

The train engineer, shown in the image, told me, “this is it, the last diesel or any other train that’ll ever be seen on this track. He was correct.  The Peoria Park District purchased the right of way, or made some agreement with the railroad, however that’s done, and the rest is history.  As most of you know, the area is now a bicycle/walking track.  Right off the back of our property.
